Overview
Authorize returned shipments, restore eligible stock, and create linked credits.
Before you begin
Select the correct subsidiary and confirm the counterparty, currency, accounts, and reference data. Posting requires an allowed accounting period and the actions permitted by your configured role.
Main task
- Open the order’s return action for an eligible shipment.
- Create the authorization with source shipment and quantities.
- Submit/approve, then post the customer return shipment.
- Review inventory restoration before creating the credit.
- Create the linked credit memo and complete required recognition reversals.
Check the result
Returned stock restores original shipment cost once; the linked credit handles financial impact without another stock movement.
If something goes wrong
Select the correct shipment and remaining returnable quantities. Multiple invoice allocations can require several linked recognition plans. A saved draft does not itself mean approval or posting. Follow the record’s current actions and review rejection feedback before resubmitting.
Review and supporting evidence
Review the saved header and line descriptions, amounts, VAT/WHT where used, and linked records. After approval/posting, inspect GL Impact where offered. Add supporting files or notes through the record’s communication area.
