Overview
Use lot, serial, bin, status, and unit information consistently across stock workflows.
Before you begin
Tracking and bin configuration belong to subsidiary item assignments. The base unit belongs to the item; transaction quantities retain entered-unit conversion snapshots.
Main task
- Review the item’s base unit and assigned purchase/sales units before entering quantities.
- Check whether the subsidiary assignment uses lot or serial tracking and enabled bins.
- Enter required inventory detail on receipts, shipments, returns, transfers, and manufacturing operations.
- Match lot allocation totals or serial counts to the base quantity, and select eligible bin/status stock.
- Review reservations and available quantities before shipping or consuming components.
Check the result
Availability respects stock status and reservations. Serials are unique per item; tracked detail travels with supported source documents. Expired lots raise warnings rather than automatically blocking all movement.
If something goes wrong
Insufficient quantity, wrong conversion factors, duplicate serials, or missing dimensions require correction at source. Physical presence is not sufficient when stock is reserved or its status is ineligible.
