Overview
Prepare controlled journals with balanced account lines and source information.
Before you begin
Select the correct subsidiary and confirm the counterparty, currency, accounts, and reference data. Posting requires an allowed accounting period and the actions permitted by your configured role.
Main task
- Open Journal Vouchers and create a draft.
- Select subsidiary context, date, period, currency/rate, and description.
- Enter debit/credit lines with correct accounts, dimensions, parties, and asset items where applicable.
- Check balancing and line descriptions, save, and submit for approval.
- Inspect posted GL and any supported A/P or A/R credit applications.
Check the result
Posting creates a balanced journal with source, party, and dimensional references. Supported zero-value lines do not excuse an unbalanced journal.
If something goes wrong
Account availability, missing asset identity, locked periods, and imbalance require correction before posting. Do not use a journal to bypass a source transaction’s lifecycle. A saved draft does not itself mean approval or posting. Follow the record’s current actions and review rejection feedback before resubmitting.
Review and supporting evidence
Review the saved header and line descriptions, amounts, VAT/WHT where used, and linked records. After approval/posting, inspect GL Impact where offered. Add supporting files or notes through the record’s communication area.
